Good role play ideas for a booking include strangers meeting at a hotel bar, a boss and secretary, or a client and a business rival, all with clearly adult characters. You do not need a script or a costume budget to make it work. What makes role play fun is a simple shared pretence, which gives you both something to smile about and a bit of a story to enjoy.

If you have never tried it, start small. Many people feel silly for the first minute, and laughing about it usually helps.

Strangers at a hotel bar

This is the classic, and it is hard to beat. You agree to meet at a hotel bar as if you have never met before. One of you sits with a drink, and the other walks over and starts a conversation. You can invent new names and new jobs, and find out how much of a story you can sustain before one of you starts laughing. It suits a dinner date particularly well, since you are already out and dressed up.

Keep your behaviour discreet out of respect for other guests, so that it stays a private game.

Other adult scenarios

Boss and secretary is a popular choice, and it works because of the suits and the slight formality rather than anything complicated. You might both have a bit of fun with a pretend performance review or the idea of working late. Executive and personal assistant is a variation on the same theme, and it lets someone be very particular about how they like their coffee.

There are lots of others to try. Two rival lawyers after a tense day in court. A famous actor and a journalist with some awkward questions. A hotel guest and a very attentive concierge. A secret agent and a double agent at a black tie party, which is a great excuse to dress up. A millionaire and a sharp art dealer, haggling over a painting. Take any two adults with an interesting reason to meet, and you have your plot.

Keeping it clearly adult

Everyone in the story must be a clearly adult character, in an adult setting. That is an absolute rule. Keep themes among grown up people with jobs and lives of their own, and steer clear of anything that a lady might reasonably find uncomfortable, such as violence, or stories built around real people she may know. If you are unsure, pick something else. There are plenty of good options.

A lady may also have her own preferences on themes, and if she vetoes something, that is the end of the matter. Do not try to argue her into it, and do not ask her to justify herself. There is no need for her to explain.

Agree the rules first

Talk about it before you begin, even if it is just for two minutes. Agree who you are both playing and roughly what the idea is, and what is off limits. Agree a clear way to step out of character. A safe word is useful even for mild role play, because it is hard to tell whether no is part of the game. A simple phrase such as, can we pause a moment, works perfectly well. Anyone can use it, at any time.

The rate pays for a lady's time and companionship, and a role is not a contract. Playing a character does not mean she has agreed to anything, and the character's answers are not hers. In any story that involves one person taking charge, the real people always have the final word. Each lady decides what she is comfortable with and can say no at any time. If you and she decide to be intimate, condoms and safer sex still apply, whatever the story.
