What BDSM stands for

BDSM stands for bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism. The six words overlap, which is why they are squeezed into four letters. It is an umbrella term rather than a single activity, and most people who enjoy it are drawn to only one or two corners of it.

Bondage and discipline covers restraint and agreed rules. Dominance and submission is about one person taking the lead while the other willingly hands it over. Sadism and masochism refers to giving or receiving intense sensation that both people want. Plenty of people enjoy the psychological side and have no interest in pain at all.

The difference between BDSM and abuse

The defining feature of BDSM is consent. Everything is discussed first, everyone involved is an adult, and anyone can stop it at any moment. The person in the submissive role often holds the real control, because they set the limits and their safe word ends things immediately. Without that agreement it is not BDSM, it is simply harm.

You will often see two phrases used in the community. Safe, sane and consensual is the older of the two. Risk aware consensual kink is the newer one, and it admits that no activity is entirely free of risk, so people should understand the risks before they agree.

Safe words and limits

A safe word is an agreed word that stops everything. It needs to be something you would never say by accident. Many people use the traffic light system, where green means carry on, amber means slow down or check in, and red means stop now. Hard limits are things that will not happen under any circumstances. Soft limits are things someone is hesitant about and might only consider with care.

Some basic safety points apply. Never leave a restrained person alone, keep anything that is tied loose enough to slip two fingers underneath, and keep something within reach that can release them quickly. Avoid anything around the neck. English law does not treat consent as a defence to every injury, so anything likely to cause real or lasting harm is off the table. If you have a heart condition, breathing problem or other health concern, speak to a doctor first and mention it to whoever you are with.

BDSM on an escort profile

On a profile, BDSM usually appears as a tag showing interest or experience. You may also see domination, submissive, spanking or BDSM itself listed separately, and those details matter, because being open to a light, playful dynamic is very different from long experience of formal scenes.

A tag tells you what a lady enjoys, not what you are buying. Rates are for her time and companionship, and each lady decides what she is comfortable with on the day. She can say no at any time, and she can change her mind halfway through.

How to bring it up

Keep it simple and respectful. Something like, I saw BDSM mentioned on your profile, and I'd love to hear what you enjoy and what your limits are, gives her room to answer honestly. Tell her how much experience you really have, too. Being a beginner is fine, while pretending not to be is how people end up uncomfortable.

When you are ready, call us with her name and a time. We check she is free, confirm the price and arrange the rest.
